My Time Poem by Darin Bolvin

My Time

When it is my time to go,
Let none shed a tear.
Let all laugh and show no fear,
But as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Let me in peace, let go, my last breath.
Rejoice of my life and times
From my humble beginnings
Until the day I died.
I know I have cheated, stole, and lied;
And unregrettably, rested my head on a shoulder and cried.
Spreading joy throughout my life gave me a rush
as if learning to fly.
Remember this when it is my time to lay at eternal rest
To bury my hatchet and give in to the icy grip of Death.
To all of whom I love dearly,
I wish to be in your hearts and thoughts
Until it is my time.
