Francis, if you're going to write in form (rhyming couplets and some kind of meter) , you really need to stop composing and read some books on form. The best one i know is Poetic Meter and Poetic Form, by Paul Fussell. If you don't study poetry as an art form, you won't improve by writing the same awkward rhythms and sing-songy rhymes.
