Mystery's Providence Poem by Alex Lane

Mystery's Providence

When this dance ends
I'll never walk again
when this dance ends
I'll never walk again

There's only so much
that I have done wrong
twisted meanings
and put them in this song
Did my words inject your heart
with something wonderful?

I live on a crutch
looking for that glance
so something would happen
and I could change my stance

and in those nights of solitude
I could still turn to you
because you mean something in my head
I will let this one
go unsaid

Because dreams are dreams
just strings of fantasies
which I don't have to answer for
in my head I let this one
go ignored

I can't deny what the truth is
but I can hide from myself
I know the answer to this
but I need time and your help

And everything will mean something
in the end
and the indulgent will perish
in the end
but if you consume everything
and process with your mind
and express it with your mouth
then surely we can figure this one out
It's a killer
It's a winner
it's a monster
it's a fighter

when this dance ends
I'll never walk again
when this dance ends
I'll never walk again

I don't need your problems
landing on my shoulders
and these idiots aren't helping matters
I'm trying to find the perfection
I guess I just don't see it
it seems the world we built just houses s***
It takes something glorious and divine
to raise my head from the floor
but everyone I have to know
leaves me aching for something more

Guiding by some radiant light
I see an option come into sight
coupled with questions
and answers I hope are right
roughed up and enraged enough
I raise one belief towards true love
wanting my release
from his binds and his cuffs

Didn't know it enslaves you
and changes out your views
but what can I say?
It'll have your soul through and through

A new monster raises it's ugly head
and nowadays I just laugh
I don't believe that we are dead
we each choose our own path

When this dance ends
I'll never walk again
when this dance ends
I'll never walk again

Traverse empty skies
for a holy sun like I have
and you'll find none
Witness that I
hold no tricks in my hand
witness that I
do what I damn well please
witness that I
made the choice to understand
witness that I
am now begging for release

I advise you not believe in everything you hear
I divine it that god is a figment of everyone's imagination
I answer that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't real
we conjure all these gods and monsters every single day
and be assured
one thought can become a hurricane
you better just pray that thought is a good one

When this dance ends
I'll never walk again
when this dance ends
I'll never walk again.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem locks the ancient form of worship to modern life, explicating the madness of this world as a dance, and how even when you think you have the steps down you will still stumble. Basically it's an attack on religious feelings of righteousness.
