Lessons Poem by Alex Lane

Lessons

A god is just a devil
Who has won his final battle
As history is written by winners
And the rest are seen as cattle
To kill a cow is to kill the cow in you
But the will to power
Is not the will to truth

Here it begins
The teaching of the gods
This is the marker
Placed on impossible odds
As cattle-drivers and winners
Command of the sinners
‘Do as thou whilst! '
Flaming worlds are born
And veils are torn
(What if god did not abandon you, it was you who abandoned him?)
