Nameless Portrayal Poem by Braden Patton

Nameless Portrayal

Rating: 5.0

The black screen goes to white.
The scene is set at midnight.
Boy enters, bold and brash,
His hair of black, volcanic ash.

Girl enters, but she hides.
The boy is there and in the moon light he confides
How he needs someone to hold him tight,
To keep him warm in the bleak dark of night.

The girl starts to weep, in reverence to the boy’s plea,
For she knows how it feels to be alone and weak.
The boy goes on, with tear-stained cheeks,
To confess his needs to be brave and free.

The girl reveals herself, to the boy still broken.
She runs to his side, though remaining unspoken.
She leans to his face, with bold intentions,
she wants to be his aid, to provide intervention.

The boy says to her, in only one word,
To explain his reasons for his cries she heard.
“Please, ” he said in a moan, “I need to feel whole,
I feel like stone.”

She says to him, with a pure disposition,
“I need you to end your search; I’ll be your fruition.”
Her lips find his and he no longer questions.
He accepts her offer and his burden lessens.
