Nature's Selection Poem by david Kettler

Nature's Selection

Rating: 5.0

The doves they sit so patient and timid
The sparrows they flutter about
Birdseed and intrigue…just inches away
The Jay barges in with a shout

First light of day might yield a chance
For the doves who look from afar
Invitation never needed…
For the pesky small sparrow
Opportunistic they are!

The Jay has his way with arrogant flare
God's gift to nature you see
Commanding his realm…
With no thought of the others
Till he spies a hawk in the tree!

So we all must answer to a higher power
Or someone who's bolder than we
Cause the hawk, even he flies quickly away
When the cat makes his way up the tree!
