Neurosis Poem by Jamie Black

Neurosis

i am entangled in a web of neurosis
these people flailing limbs and words about
tracing patterns of chaos to frame our times.
they strike me in my tranquil daydreams
and i get stunned by this drug
that they have accidentally force-fed to me
and others
mass hysteria ensues
i hear the noisy drone
of the hollow groans
mixed with a fickle chitter-chatter
over which i can hear my inner voice
faintly screaming in dissent
and i can see hazy grey eyes
with swelled pupils
glued on contorted faces
glowing red in the cheeks.

i need solitude
for escapism is no longer enough
give me a sunny sky.
