New Day Poem by Garrett Nakai

New Day

As I look at the rising sun.A new day begins.Everything yesterday was

said and done.No I don't want no gin. It's too early to be drinking.I

wake and bake to the new day.Long ago it seems that way.I miss seeing

you in the morning. With my bloodshot eyes.I wish I could take it all

back.I don't mean for this to be boring.I could get our hearts and

just tie.Leaving out all the slack. All day like that and I'm still not

tired of you.I know you and I will do.From dusk till dawn. You'll never

make me yawn.I wait for the setting sun to get behind the hill.Till

then come here and fill.My love and desires throughout the next 365

days. And yes it is free at no pay.My love is free as a bird. The

setting sun takes away all my pain.Love big and wide as a herd.It

never hurts my vains.Don't hate me.Just love me.Through this new day.
