New Word In The Garden

Autoplay

Of the space that it alone grows in
in my Japanese garden,
my mondo grass occupies
closer to a tithe* than a fifth.

The rest is dirt and stones.

The way it grows -
in tufts or bunched clusters -
is said by botanists
to be caespitose.
