Ngwenya Poem by Paul Wilson

Ngwenya

The lion roars in the hills
He will not eat tonight
But he is waiting, he is watching

Ayethe Nkosi!
My people wait in the hills
They are swift, they are fierce
They are numberless as the stars
Or as the grasshoppers
They are angry.

They smell the rain
And the lightning they see very far away
They feel the coming of the wind
That flattens the grasses
Before the world-rain.

Ayethe Nkosi!
My people are hungry
And they will not wait very long.
These things I sing, O King,
Because the poet should celebrate the deeds of his people.

Beautiful piece Mr Wilson, I have a suggestion though; how about we change Ayethe Nkosi to Bayethe Nkosi. Im a Swazi by the way
