The Man In Blue Poem by Paul Wilson

The Man In Blue

Watch out for that man in blue
He's only here to diddle you
He knows the name you answer to,
He knows the why, he knows the way,
He knows the time, he knows the day,
He knows the feelings that you have,
He knows the meanings that you crave -
The answers, and the questions too;
He knows the mischief that you do,
And if you told the truth or lied:
He wants the secrets that you hide….

Demophiles of all creed and hue
Know this to be the end of you -
This man is out to hoodwink you.
He'll sooner spook than spare
His hat and coat are blue!

This man won't wait for you to draw
Your money from your bank account
Your booby snares won't keep him out
Or do him down - he's in this town!
We thought we had him cornered but
He's dangerous when cornered so
We had to let him go….

The man-in-blue lurks in thin air
He's waiting and he's skulking there!
If you see him on the street
Then this is what to do (repeat) :
Go straight back home and lock the door -
Don't let him in! Beware, beware!

I know, because I've seen him go
From door to door in rain or snow
He knows your pain, your pride, your fear...
Lock up your trinkets and prepare -
The blue man comes: he's here, he's here!

Watch out for that man in blue
He's only come to trouble you
Don't greet him in the afternoon
- he's coming soon!
He'll sooner spook than spare
His hat and coat are blue.
