Nicuesa Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Nicuesa

NICUESA

Diablo
Gringo
Diego

I make you a stone
- (with my words)

Then hand you to carver
-to artist
-a master architect

Will ask them
-turn you to a cenotaph
- (there, inside
-rest heroes
-innocent
-defenseless defenders
-and victims
-of you and your friends
-The Europe's messengers!)

You and gang
-savages
-took vessels as sailors
-hungry and thirsty
-invaded others' lands
-named yourselves
- "The Victors, conquistadores! ! ! "

Your name is mass grave
-to those who…

I kneel and praise them
Forever
Forever
Forever

Damn be to Vespucci
Pizzaro, Columbus
And there on
To yourself: "Diego"
