Night Poem by Emmanuel Eze

Night

Night.

Tonight, i ask the moon to tell me what she sees.

Somewhere in Europe
Maybe Berlin,
A. family pant with laughter
Across an exotic table
Of Red wine and lobster,
Königsberger klopse and vegies. Luxury lives here

Somewhere in Africa
Maybe Maidugiri. The air smells of sweat and ashes around a mother who sits outside, hands on cheek
Two boys whine and grumble
The night affords then no dinner, dad is far away or dead, hunger knows not the stench of war.

In Asia, Manila, a boy discovers his girlfriend is his sister, and tomorrow is the wedding. Bride seeks death rather than incest, and the story continues.
In Rio, a newly wedded couple, cuddle under the soft covers, the rain beats hard against the roof, he snores from the demands of the wedding party. His wife is a man.

The moon drops me off
Here in a desert in Antarctica. Leaving my shadow in every pkace we have been.
Thousands of miles away
But then again, the world has never been fair
We are stories told
From thousands of altitudes away
