Night Of Hope Poem by Je'free Y .

Night Of Hope

I am standing on the gutter,
But looking at the stars.
They truly come out shining
When it gets darkest, threatening.
As the night tells me to give up,
Their sparkles whisper to persist,
Replacing my thoughts of frustrations
With thoughts of unfulfilled potentials.

I cross the street to leave the gutter,
Walking on an imaginary pavement.
There, on the other side, I found -
Belief amidst betrayal, love amidst hurt.
The practice of hope becomes a habit,
A habit that brings the spirit joy.
No, hope never disappears.
It is us who disappear from it.

Looking at the brilliance of the stars again,
I am reminded of great accomplishments
In the world by great men of great optimism.
Indeed, optimism is the oxygen
To the lungs of our dreams,
The physician to every miserable man,
The vision of endless hope rather
Than hopeless end.
Deprive me of everything but hope.
It is the essential thing I ever have.
