Night Skies Poem by Destry Miller

Night Skies

Rating: 5.0

When I look up
At the night sky
I admit I tremble
And I'll tell you why
The sky is so vast
And filled with stars
So very high
And so very far
They twinkle back
As they look down
And i have to wonder
Do stars frown
Frown at humanity
And all our waste
While they glare
At us from space
If they could talk
Whay would they say
Would they tell us
We've lost our way
That we do not even
Know who we are
We who might
Have become stars
I am afraid they
Hate all of us
All of our destruction
And all of our fuss
I am afraid of
What they may
Speaking the truth
Could possibly say
When I look up at
The night sky
I admit I tremble
And I cry
Tears of humility
And of despair
As the stars twinkle
Down: beware
One day they'll
Have had enough
And they'll decide
To quickly snuff
All of the life we
Think we're living
And the stars'll say
We weren't kidding
We warned you
But you never heard
Now look at all
The caos you've stirred
And they'll laugh
When we're gone
Being unwelcome
For far too long
When you look up
At the night sky
You should tremble
The same as I
