Nightfall At Ekosodin Poem by Nelson Enemuo

Nightfall At Ekosodin

As the sunsets her dying smile
Down Ekosodin road
Students trooping down the road
Like a swarm of bees searching
Eagerly for a resting hive
With tired hungry faces
Of the day's lectures and leisure
Some wear smiles of success
Illuminated by super grades
Others a frustrated looks of failed courses
Yet everybody awaits nightfall at Ekosodin.

As darkness crawls closer
Fear visits
The scary sounds incarnates
From the sweet voice of women shouting
Hot corn
To the screaming of missing phones and laptops
Snatched away in a glimpse of light
Like a flash of lightning.
The shout of intimidation perturbs your ears
As guns boom in the corner
A shrill of help
The dying voice of raped girls
And the esoteric groans of initiated boys.

ALAS!
The pounding of feet running past your window
While everybody flew to their fate
Makes you switch off half - lighted electric globes
And lie in a corner of your room
Heart pounding faster than
Racing horse escaping a fearsome battle
As you lie in wait for that audacious
KNOCK
Which rarely comes.

You paint the picture vividly and elaborate. You put me through Ekosodin.
