Nightmare Poem by William Kofoed

Nightmare

I awaken

I hear my name

Softly calling

I rise

Go to the door

Hear the calling

I walk down the hall

I see her

Laying there

She not wearing clothes

What is she doing

Calling to me

Come here

Come up

Beside me

Darkness

Emptiness

Horror

You can't tell

They'll smash your fingers

And cut them off

You touched me

I cannot remember

I can't see her face

All is darkness
