Nineteenth Century Reform Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Nineteenth Century Reform

The Empire Slave Trade
we shall never forget,
recalling William Wilberforce
abolition was his quest.
Christian and Social Reform
he studied with zest... and
witnessed the Slave Trade
diminishing at his twenty-year
behest; the Bill was accepted
when put to the test.

William went to his final
resting place ~ satisfied that
his Slavery Abolition Act
would meet with much praise.
And we shall always
remember a man such as he.
William Wilberforce
seventeen fifty-nine
to eighteen thirty-three.
One of Britain's Best.
