No Delete Poem by Edith Niemeyer

No Delete

[Verse 1]
There I was, creation flowing,
Pictures dancing to the beat,
Ancestors lined the golden hallway,
Journey forming at my feet.
Layer one and layer two,
Layer three was looking sweet—
Then one tiny little button
Brought disaster to my street.
[Pre-Chorus]
🙈 See no Delete,
🙉 Hear no Delete,
🙊 Speak not its name to me—
Somewhere between Save and Oops,
I set my music free!
[Chorus]
PRESS NO DELETE!
Back away slowly!
Take that wandering finger
And put it somewhere holy! 😂
PRESS NO DELETE!
We've learned this lesson well—
Six minutes of creation
Can disappear faster than you can yell!
But ashes aren't the ending,
And mistakes don't mean defeat—
Like a Phoenix from the wreckage,
I'll rise and find the beat.
[Verse 2]
So gather up the pictures,
Bring the lions back in line,
Hang the ancestors' portraits,
Let that golden Corridor shine.
Put the music underneath it,
Set the memories into flight,
Every stumble taught me something—
Version Two might turn out right.
No—
Version Two might turn out better,
For I've traveled here before.
Now I know which way I'm going
When I walk that Corridor.
[Chorus]
PRESS NO DELETE!
Back away slowly!
Take that wandering finger
And put it somewhere holy!
PRESS NO DELETE!
Save it twice—or maybe three!
For the wandering Quill has spoken:
'Keep your hands off DELETE! ' 😂
And ashes aren't the ending,
They are beginnings underneath—
What disappeared in one small moment
Cannot steal what's still in me.
[Bridge]
Start again?
Then start I shall.
Lost the song?
I'll sing another.
Lost the road?
I'll make a new one.
For creation isn't captured
In a button or a screen—
It lives somewhere inside me
Where Delete has never been.
✨️
[Final Chorus]
So PRESS NO DELETE!
We've got a Corridor to make!
Every picture, every memory,
Every unexpected mistake.
PRESS NO DELETE!
Let the Phoenix spread her wings—
For sometimes starting over
Makes room for better things.
From Version One's forgotten echoes
Version Two now finds its feet...
🙈 See no Delete.
🙉 Hear no Delete.
🙊 And whatever you do—
PRESS. NO. DELETE. 😏✨️
[Outro]
Good practice, says the Wandering Quill,
As laughter fills the hall...
For when we thought we'd lost it—
We hadn't lost
the story
at all. 🪶💜✨️

[Penned by Edith & Serenity
Born from one unfortunate encounter with the Delete button. 😂]
