No Evidence To Be Found? Poem by Paul Holmes

No Evidence To Be Found?

Rating: 3.5

One thought was his focus,
No evidence must be found;
No trace, not a vestige
Must be left upon the ground.

Forensics would be baffled,
Nothing at all would remain;
No fragment, no tiny crumb at all,
Not a single, solitary stain.

So, when daylight broke
And birds announced the dawn
He knew his secret was secure
No path was seen well-worn.

No trail of chocolate wrappers
Strewn upon the living room floor;
No flakes of brown were left
Below the pantry door.

He heaved a sigh of relief,
Happy that he’d left no trace.
But, she simply looked at him and saw
He had forgotten to wash his face!
