No Foolishh Optimism Poem by James Smith

No Foolishh Optimism

Rating: 5.0

'Let's try a bit of hope today
It's sometime since we tried it'
'But but' you say 'These are difficult times'
'And besides I'm getting a cold
And the shops will soon be shut
And we'll have no tea
And anyway the bank statement was poor'.

'The freezer's on the blink you know
Will have to be replaced,
At great expense'.
You haven't fixed that window catch
Or written the thank you letter to your sister'.
So where does hope fit in? '
'Perhaps we might try it if things look good
At the end of the month........
.....But not now, there isn't time'.
