No Matter What Poem by Kimberly Burnham

No Matter What

'No matter what people tell you
words and ideas
change the world'
said Robin Williams

A comedian not willing to tell
the world
his latest personal battle
the early stages of Parkinson's disease

'What's right is
what's left if you do
everything else wrong'
said the actor, who admitted receiving treatment
for cocaine and booze addictions
sober but struggling with depression
anxiety

'Reality is just a crutch
for people who can't cope
with drugs'
said the actor
who entertained millions
he wanted us to laugh
to feel less afraid

'Being in the same room with people
creating something together
is a good thing
said the man who offered so many
joy and happiness

And the hope and strength
to seek care
whatever battles are faced
leave behind the fear
and embrace the laughter
