No More Doom Poem by Angelica Markle

No More Doom

I glance around the room,

Feels like everyone's waiting for their own doom,

I don't belong here anymore,

I feel like nothing more than a prisoner of war,

I won't wait in this line of gloom,

I know where I'm going and I'll be there soon,

I'll find and enter the trap door,

Through which I'll have a new life to explore.

All I want is my signature tune,

To be danced to at midnight under a full moon,

I want someone to care for,

Even through the devastation of another world war,

I want it to rain at the sand dunes,

And snow to descent upon a sawdust saloon,

I want something I don't have a budget for,

Like a ocean view apartment on the 68th floor.

My green and blue lagoon,

With ripples from the in coming monsoon,

Is peace I could never ignore,

That's all I could ever want, all I could ask for.
