No Morning Poem by Ananiya Alick Ponje

No Morning

For me no morning comes after night
As no night is without breaks even to the end
And morning comes since when dawn breaks.
For me there is nothing but continuous misery.
Since thoughts about you make my being whole;
And morning more pain brings, yet it comes not;
But for time, it may be, even if so painful.
As comes night I long it lasts forever,
That maybe in darkness pain may be fair.
But for its end with more misery brings;
For I could live without you and be free,
But since where you be I be without choice,
My pain tears me apart when your eyes shine.
How I wish it was only an illusion of my mind;
Then I would avoid loving you now or any time,
For truth would be my love wouldn’t be requited.
But your final turn I will eagerly embrace
If for my soul joy it will bring abundantly.
I may not abhor your past infliction on me,
For that is what can separate the two extremes.
And since the first has been felt fully
It may be complete if the other as well cerebrates;
Then the difference is necessary for my soul’s content.
