No Quiet Place Poem by Alexandre Nodopaka

No Quiet Place

There is no
quiet place
left
anywhere
in California.

Every time
I'm on a beach
and throw a bottle
with a message
for help

it lands on
a coast guard
who hands me
a ticket
for littering.

I hope when I fly
to Heaven
St. Peter
doesn't wear
a Nazi armband
