No Strategy Poem by June FeirCruz

No Strategy

I have been known to dispense relationship advices
I am perceived as an expert in the field
I walk in a room and I own it
All eyes are focused on me and I enjoy it.

I am picture perfect as can be
Beautifully made up, haute couture on me.
I am Miss cool, calm and collected - yes, that is me
But can you see past the facade and see the real me?

Are you interested in what I have to say?
And not just who I know?
Are you interested in my opinion of things?
And not just hang on to my every word just because.

I am real, I have feelings, I am a human being
Get past the veneer of the glam
There is a kind person inside
Waiting for you to understand.

I may be cool as a cucumber from the outside
But inside I am trembling
When it comes to you, I have no strategy
And my heart turns into putty.

As I see you walk away
I wish I had something witty to say
Something that is not a cliche
Like, blue eyes: Please stay with me.
