No Valentine Poem by Robert Lansing

No Valentine

He waited.
He waited...
But waited too long.

It was unexpected-
The debris was everywhere-
His hope.

He cried till he laughed...
Lonely laughter-

Roses wilted.
His sanity wilted.
His love wilted...

Wind howls...
Rain mourns...
Thunder moans from grief...
Lightning shows sadness...

The sight of heart-shaped balloons,
Teddy bears, chocolate boxes,
Fresh roses-
He leapt into peace of mind.
