No Way Out Poem by Kimberly Wares

No Way Out

My love is like the ocean, never ending
For every new crush, the waves are transcending

“Poop, now I’m stuck” is what I say
Between a rock and a hard spot is where I lay

Trying to break free is like trying to fly
Can’t do it if I’m not a magpie

I can say “whoosh” all I want, but it won’t happen
Just like with my love, I’ll stay trapped in

My love is a prison guard, always on patrol
It constantly has to make sure I’m not in control

If I can’t escape being in love mode
I’ll go insane enough I might just explode
