Timeless:
the surf's ageless boom hushes the sunset
and the water drags a bluesy nocturne
under the breakers
The night-sky chars the dim light
and the full moon
expands low above the small harbor
like a slow lump of yeast rising
and little by little
carries its caldron of embezzled light
into the sky's black mud
Diminished
the sharp light turns flat
