Tomorrow's never promised,
They say.
We all know the cliche.
But what does it really mean,
To cherish today?
It means listening to the blues
That would play at your
Backyard barbecues.
You loved to sing and dance off-beat,
With laughter and smiling, proved to be infectious.
Gathering on holidays,
In competition for a good scoop
Of your peach cobbler.
I could always count on you to
Hear me talk about the next crazy turn
Or accomplishment I've taken
In life.
And as of recently,
I felt the proudest growing a garden
Like the one I knew from your
Backyard barbecues.
The family's matriarch.
Your love was always felt
From the way we'd always pop up
To see you — to the many plants you have
That's always flourishing
So yeah, we know..
Tomorrow's never promised.
But today I cherish what is
And what have been.
