Nostalgia Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Nostalgia

You can never return
to the way you once were
in the beautiful summers gone by,
when your heart missed a beat
at the sight of his youthfulness
and sparkle of joy in his eye.

You cannot re-live delight at
the Altar, when happiness shone
everywhere; the church organ
played as you walked up the aisle
and confetti covered your hair.

You may recall a baby's first cry
or the quaint cottage by the sea-shore
where you were surrounded by
roses, but the cottage is demolished
for sure!

Seldom will you say hello to the
'dear folk at home' - for they have
gone faraway. It is all a daydream
a nostaglic daydream of the sweet
life of yesterday.
