He was falsely accused
While Barabbas was excused.
He bore sin’s awful heavy shame.
Upon Himself, he took me blame.
Yet He said not a word.
Led to the slaughter like a lamb –
Jehovah, Adonai, the Great I AM.
Mocked and ridiculed, laughed to scorn,
And spit upon – is this my Lord?
Yet He said not a word.
It was I who should have died,
Yet my Lord was crucified.
With one word He could be free,
But He suffered there for me.
And He said not a word.
Just one word – the angels would aid.
Was there not another way?
Why must He die to pay my debt?
Such pain and suffering and yet –
He said not a word.
I gazed upon His mangled face,
Knowing that He had taken my place.
His broken lips parted and He cried,
“Father, forgive them! ” then He died.
With love He spoke those words.
Wow, what a powerful poem. i like how you used the names of God, Jehovah Adonai.... beautiful! . love starr
