Not Again Poem by Martin Webb

Not Again

As if
there can be
such a thing
as a new family

Birth,
time's midwife,
comes but once to a life,
to a mother,
to eternity

A child can come
to love again,
but only through a stranger's kindness,
not blood's legitimacy.
