Not Just A Word Poem by anine may

Not Just A Word

A victim
It hits me hard
To think a word could have so much power
I don’t like it
It means I’m powerless, weak
I guess I was
No more, never again

With nowhere to go but within
You get to know yourself
Your weaknesses, your strengths
Where you failed, where you succeeded
What to avoid, what to seek out
Your eyes, no longer so blue

The say, once a victim, always a victim
Apparently it’s supposed to feel safe, familiar
Well, THEY are wrong
I’ll be a victim no more

Those that inflict pain wake up with their thoughts and memories everyday but you can move on and leave all that behind....who is the victim then?
