Not There Poem by Thomas Taylor

Not There

You wont find it there.
Nor will you find it over there.
Not in the bottom of that bottle.
Not at the tip of your needle.
Not in the flame burning those leaves.
Not in the heat of her body.
But you'll try.
God help you you'll try.
Try so hard to find it.
What's eluded you for so long.
In your powder and pills,
In the things you took from others.
You won't find it there.
Don't come to me.
You won't find it here either.
