Not Yet Poem by Fred Babbin

Not Yet

The day stretched out and yawned a little.
Time for meeting was not yet
So what to do? The empty time must be fulfilled
But no love to greet, No medick to meet
In Life Saving Performance yet,
What to do?
Now the paper would be read
Of terrorism, famine, war,
depression, and pollution
with hope always, always hope of the solution
But not yet, not yet.
Can reading take the place of greeting, meeting?
Not yet, not yet.
Time is waiting, always waiting for solutions,
meeting, greeting, reading, death-
but not yet, not yet
