Nota Bene Poem by Gabriel Ifeanyi Onyewu

Nota Bene

Abrupt clang shiver's my startle
A swift glimpse, stealth pair of rubies
Lurking where in yonder shadows?
Disappeared tenebrous forthwith;
Also of suspenseful tune sealed.

Stash'd away in a burnt, book shelve
A double hundred and some glass
Slippers of cind'rella, a howl
From an obscure monk hooded by
The cloak of a frightful sure night.

Gradually the moon unveils its
Yellow to a reticent red.
I'm entombed by your impending
Doom, perhaps terror eh! but cant
Seem to find my silent own grave:

Why am i only your headstone
Engraved with a trail-map, perhaps
Of your humane scattered gruesome
Ahead of the pack led the chase
Invariably into the 'night?
