Nothing Was The Same Poem by Sinclair Azubuike Farrell

Nothing Was The Same

For 500 years
They instilled in us fear
Aboard ships
They took us
Abused our women's hips
While some jumped over ship
During those horrendous trips
To a different world
Forcing us
To experience hell
Like objects
Our body's they would sell
From Africa we came
They made us become slaves
Raped us
In every way
Our names they changed
Can you imagine the pain?
After they drag us from the arms of our mother
Nothing was the same.
