Now Am Like Mama Poem by Ogah George Lindsey

Now Am Like Mama

It was never my intention to be a victim
It was never my intention to walked on the street all alone
It was never my intention

If only you hear me out.

Mama told me never walk all alone

Mama told me never to make mention of men

Mama told me many things

Mama never told me she was rape

Mama never told me the story
Even when I tried bringing it up

Mama never did this
Mama never did that

Mama thought she was doing me a favor

But today
Here I am
Being a victim of rape like my mama
