Now I Know Poem by Alfred Ramos

Now I Know

Like an old ship that has come aground
They don’t make a pretty sound
Like the last slurp of a milkshake
Good from beginning to end is no mistake
Like pillow marks on your cheeks
Lifelines of your dreams of volumes speaks
Like mongrel dog howls at the moon
Interrupting silent thoughts of you leaving soon
Like a love letter without a stamp
You may as well forget about the genie lamp
And now I know
Why I couldn’t let you go
Like a promised romantic moonlight cruise
Tender moments you don’t ever want to lose
Like the last bite of the forbidden fruit
The taste makes every sin worth the pursuit
And like the first kiss that’s is oh so tender
Knees get weak it’s hard not to surrender
And now I know
Why I couldn’t let you go
But I did
Heaven forbid
It was a lesson learned
Ouch! The pain of getting burned
