Now Is Present For Oswald Mtshali Poem by Jacques Sprenkie Mateya

Now Is Present For Oswald Mtshali

When world was asleep
Only me walking
Contemporary history repeated itself

Overcame a boy from Dennilton
It was still misty and cold
in Short trouser and barefeet
Trembling like earth quake
Looking at me, with his yellow teeth

Sooner or later
Searching in bins and tins
For thy promise
Life was light
He couldn't see the light

I looked at man upstairs
No not down - stairs for help
Deep down in my heart
I had a prayer or introspection

Dear God Lord of all mercy
Strengthen his soul
In Harley-barley way
In his morally bankrupt soul
Implement luck and love in him

Make him see life
Make him move in life
No better time that present
