now we are the fable Poem by Galo Ghigliotto

now we are the fable

Rating: 5.0

now we are the fable
we have gone with the river
the cities we once knew we invented in dreams
and could see how the luminous horizons would open
they were the arms of a cross hollowed-out
by a flaming bird

what did you see in my eyes my father
yours were orange
i remember them searching for corpses throughout our house
i remember them illuminating everything
we took off and left you alone
we became the fable that opened your chest
when the tears were a frequent sparkle
inside the cups

how long will you search for us with your dogs
and think that our bones are beneath the earth
because you don't know
father
we fled with the river
and every once in awhile i spit a cloud up at the sky
and i fill it with
all of my memories from when i was alive
from when the nightmares hacked off my head
pipes bursting with blood
and this is a cloud and at the same time a tomb
i cut a hole in my belly
and words fell from forming your name

i also had children in death father
i had seen them in dreams
and they were all beautiful like you and me holding hands
on the way to the park that would move around
as your silhouette mutated

i have shards of life breathing all over me
now it is water
now it is the name of the city of Valdivia
now this cloud is about to rain on a mirror
