Now What? Poem by Janis Land Raymer

i needed someone to laugh at my jokes-
you laughed
i needed someone to listen when i cried
you listened
i needed someone to let me talk
you let me
i needed someone to show concern
you did
i needed someone to be proud of my work
you were
and then one day i realized
i am in love with a memory
of what once was
a dream of what will maybe be again
i've been talking to the real deal this whole time
and didn't even know it! !
now what?
