Nubia Poem by Damilola Nelson

Nubia

Nubia!

What is it that makes you stand out

Your skin I would say, I can see it glittering in the morning sun.

At dark hours shinning and shimmering under canopies of the night stars

Oh! what a beauty!

Her hips sway side to side when she glides past

She makes heads turn while little hoots and hisses escape the mouth of admirers...

Nubia!

What is it that holds me spellbound

It is her skin polished in Shea butter, It is her slender legs that carry all the beauty that allures her.

Her curved hips are painstakingly carved by the master sculptor, perhaps her full breast filled with mother's milk.

Not forgetting her smile...

One that exposes perfect white teeth.

Nubia

Your skin is gold

Oh! my poor heart melts when she moves her body to the rhythm of my drum beat

Her hips swaying to my percussion my heart take precautions

Her slender legs tingle the sole and her round Nubia hips taunt my soul.

While her smile maroons me.

Oh yes, it maroons me!

But I am never tired of her black beauty

Nubia!
