Nubias Women 1 Poem by Nancy Handabile

Nubias Women 1

I channel the spirits of al the women who fought 4 my Afrika,

the mothers, the slaves taken forcibly.

The mothers left in the villages by their urbun trekking men.

The gals who threw stones alongside the boys in the struggle.

The female exiled, raped.

I channel the fearless woman of yesterday.

She says to the strong, battered woman of today.

Take charge & remember no 1 wil hand power to you,

you must take it.
