They console those who feel deprived;
They comfort those about to die;
They give tender and loving care;
They relieve pain by their kind talk
They bandage wounds that bleed so much;
They start the drips that sustain life;
They give life-saving oxygen;
They care for sick by day and night.
They advise patients to be good;
They scold the ones who don’t keep rules;
They wish them ‘good morning’, ‘good night’,
They tuck them snugly when they sleep.
They feed those who can’t eat themselves;
They make them swallow bitter pills;
They tell them what cleanliness is;
They bid good-bye when discharged well.
They stay awake by their bed-side;
They call relatives when needed;
They say kind words that heal like drugs;
They empathize when things go wrong.
They show great love for suffering souls;
They serve the young and old when sick;
They respect human life on earth;
They are like angels right from birth.
The world depends on nurses much;
Nurses are health-providers too;
They are a boon and main pillars
Of global health care delivery.
O Florence Nightingale’s found souls;
Your work is more than weight in gold;
God bless your divine earthly roles
You’re always noble in this world.
God surely will reward you well.
