O Mother!
the earth gleams in this festive season
when the gleeful Kash invokes the genteel Autumn
to sprinkle dew shreds to ease thy walks
while millions fervently pray to thee and summon
once again O Mother, once again descend
and kill the Mahishasuras who are still looming large
on this earth since your depart eons ago
and break peace and willfully enough hate they sparge
thou will smile at them
who have not learnt from the life of the Demonego and pride, greed and ambition
all are nothing but a prey to time and die in vain
but the evils here nurture them all
to jeopardy the lives of the innocent men
cunning foxes are they but in sheep's fleece they stroll
to unleash terror and to play Holi with the blood of the slain
O Mother! Come again and kill all these Mahishasuras
and free the society from the clutch of such demons,
and instill love, peace and hope in everybody's heart
-young and old - of children, men and women
O Mother! In a state of sublimity, I pray to thee
purify my heart and enlighten my mind
also give strength to my voice
so that I can tell the world thy divine-kind.
