O My God Poem by Russel Choudhury

O My God

O my God, You who have created me out of clay…
You who have created me also out of flesh…
You who have given me the earth as my resting place…
You who have given me this life as a test…
O my God, for You I try my best…
Resist Satan, the eternal temptress…

For You I do all to have salvation…
To be close to You, to be in Heaven…
So Great are You, You who have given me eyes to see what is right and what is wrong…
You who have given me ears, to hear the right and not believe the wrong…
You who have given me speech, to speak the truth and not what’s false…
You who have given me fingers, to even feel my own pulse…

All this you have given us and we still fall away…
We misuse Your gifts, and get carried away…
We carry on fighting ourselves, and we do not cease…
O my God, have mercy upon us, and give us peace.
