The God Poems - The Artist Poem by Russel Choudhury

The God Poems - The Artist

In the Name of He, who is the First.
In the Name of He, who is the Last,
He who has No beginning nor End.

Man says he wants to see his Lord. How can they see Him?
Was it not said afore time, that God is Spirit?
But man persists, he says, he will not believe unless he sees God.
But how can they see God, when they can’t even look at the sun without pulling their eyes away?
Do they not know, the sun is but a speck compared to the Glory of the Lord. How then can they see God?
Was it not asked of the Lord afore time, to reveal Himself to His Messenger?
Did He not say, He would be revealed, if but the mountain could hold His Glory?
Did the Lord not start to descend? And did not the mountain perish into rubbles before the Messenger?
If the mountains cannot even sustain the Glory of God, how can man look at Him?
For assuredly, nothing on the earth can sustain His Glory!
Nothing in the Universe can sustain His Glory!
Nothing in the Heavens can sustain His Glory!
They are His creations, how can the Creator enter His creation?
Does the artist enter his paintings? Assuredly no!
But the people appreciate the painting, they do not need to see the artist to know it is a creation, a mighty creation of the artist.
Why then does man not appreciate the artist of the heavens, of the universe, and of the earth?
Is it not a creation, a mighty creation? For assuredly it is, but the people still say they want to see the Artist.
