Show a little mercy O ruthless life!
For every creature is thy true lover
Let them sometimes win the strife
Let some cool gusts flow in summer
Scorching cinders and thorny knives
Pervade when in this beautiful earth
When water becomes but flood for lives
And humanity writhes in worldly hearth
When worst out of worst comes to man
And his pitiable sobs' sounds fill the sky
Every direction fails to shelter him when
And angels too come in mean time to try
These things o life but monsters' play
Let him breathe calmly before that day
